Applying for a Discretionary Grant from the Colyton Chamber of Feoffees
The Colyton Chamber of Feoffees is a registered charity (no 243224) which makes grants to worthy local causes and in cases of individual hardship.
It was given this remit by Royal Charter from King Henry VIII in 1546 to do “Good, Godly and commendable deeds” for and on behalf of the people of Colyton.
A request for a grant may be made to the Chamber by letter addressed to:
Miss Sarah Charman
Town Hall Office
Terms and conditions
There are no specific criteria for the types of purchase or activity for which a request may be made, although the Chamber does place a high priority on supporting young people to learn and develop both socially and academically. Grants may be requested, for example as a contribution towards the cost of a specific student learning activity such as purchasing an expensive text book or other academic aid or as a contribution towards the cost of travel for a period of academic study overseas.
A grant from the Chamber of Feoffees is essentially intended to provide a ‘pump priming’ function to encourage the applicant to seek other donations and financial support towards the ultimate cost of an object or event.
